Note:
This is a FREE service to you! We do not charge
you to use Cars and Parts Request! Please tell
your friends about our service!
Our
online parts request process is actually quite
simple. You start by selecting your Year and Make
of vehicle and click on the continue button. Next
you will select the model of your vehicle and
continue.
What
Happens Next?
The next step you will be asked to provide some
basic information about your vehicle. This helps
the salvage yard to figure out exactly what part
you need. Let's look at the different areas:
Vin
#: This is the Vehicle Identification
Number of your vehicle. This is not a required
field. However it can be useful (and sometimes
even required) for the salvage yard to determine
the correct part for your car.
Engine
Size: The actual size of your engine.
Example: 2.2, 3.0, 350 ci, etc. This is a required
field that must be filled out. Okay, so you're
only looking for a headlight, what does the engine
size have to do with it? Plenty! Believe it or
not, there are some vehicles that have different
headlights depending on the engine that was
originally installed in the car! This is just an
example of why this is a required field.
Number
of Cylinders: This is a drop down menu
that lets you select the number of cylinders your
engine has. Although you may have a 5.9, this
could be an 8 cylinder in the case of a Dodge 360,
but it could also be a 6 cylinder Cummins diesel
engine.
Drive
Train: Another drop down menu that lets
you select Front Wheel Drive, Rear Wheel Drive, 4
X 4 etc.
Transmission
Type: Lets you select Automatic or Manual
(Stick Shift)
Number
of Doors: Select 2 door, 4 door etc.
Description
of Parts: This is the most important part
of the request process. Be as descriptive as you
can about exactly what parts you need. The salvage
yard doesn't need to know that someone ran a
stoplight and damaged your car or that the
mechanic left the drain plug loose on your engine.
Be as descriptive as you can without unnecessary
detail.
Your
Geographic Location: This is your state.
This field is important for the salvage yard to
determine shipping costs for the part to get to
you.
The
rest of the information on the form asks for
general information about you and your location
for shipping purposes.
E-Mail
Address: This is a REQUIRED field! If you
do not enter a valid e-mail address the salvage
yards have no way of contacting you and the time
you've spent filling out your request will be for
nothing. The salvage yards we have as Members are
prohibited from spamming you or selling your
e-mail address! Note: Please do not put WWW in
front of your e-mail address! E-mail addresses DO
NOT begin with WWW. Only websites use this format
for addresses.
And
Finally: Once the form is completely
filled out, click on the Continue button to take
you to the verification screen. Please review the
information you entered and then submit the form.
What
Happens Next?
Once you submit the form, you simply do nothing.
If one of the salvage yards has the part you need
they will contact you by e-mail with a quote on
the part and shipping costs. In some instances
they may require more information to quote the
correct part and may e-mail you for additional
information.
